Call For Volunteers

During the SMC ‘08 students will be provided an opportunity to volunteer to work at the conference in order to earn their conference registration fee.

Volunteers must have completed the Conference Registration form and supplied confirmation of their student status to the program committee. Students will volunteer for one full day of the conference in exchange for a not paying their conference registration fee. Students must work one full day and must work all hours in a single day. Student volunteers will be mainly asked to help in the student information desk and possibly to coordinate sessions, assist with registration, support audiovisual equipment, run errands, etc. at the conference.

Volunteers might move between assignments on a single day. During the first day of the conference, there may be a student volunteer meeting.

Student volunteers will only be reimbursed for their conference registration fee. Other registration fees are the responsibility of the student. Students should register to the conference web site and provide payment information. Students that will be selected as volunteers will be reimbursed for their conference registration fee.

We will accept 10 volunteers after a selection procedure, where preference will be given to students who have IEEE and SMC society membership. In order to volunteer, please complete the following form, provide a copy of your student status proof (if IEEE member provide number, otherwise a PDF version of the official document or letter stating the student status). Selected volunteers will be contacted soon after the conference program is released to arrange their volunteer times.

The application package must be received by July 1, 2008. Notification of acceptance will be made on July 9, 2008.
