Submission of Special Sessions Proposals

Special Sessions (SS’s) are especially encouraged. Please collect at least five paper titles, follow instructions in an SS proposal form, and submit it to the SS Chair by March 2. Acceptance/rejection for the SS proposals will be sent after March 5.

Approved SS information is posted on website. Authors who can upload their paper(s) to the SS’s listed on the website are not restricted to the authors in the SS proposal. SMC2008 System sends an e-mail to the corresponding SS organizer when a paper is submitted to his/her SS. If the SS organizer thinks that the paper does not match to the SS topics, he/she consults with the SS Chairs if the paper should be move to a normal session or other SS.

SS organizers has two review options:

  1. Asking SMC2008 to Review Their Papers
    SS organizers may ask SMC2008 Program Committee (PC) to review their SS papers. In this case, they must provide at least three referees who accepted to review their SS papers.
  2. Self-Management of Reviewing
    SS organizers may manage the review process of their SS papers by collecting referees by themselves. Same review criteria and review due are applied to both SS papers and normal session papers through SMC2008 review management system. SS organizers who choose the self-management option have responsibility to make their referees submit their review reports by the review due, May 1. The final decision of acceptance/rejection is made by the PC Chair based on review reports.
